⚾️ Possible Ernie Banks jacket found at Goodwill
A high school senior bought a jacket at Goodwill for $8.70. After some research, he realized it may have once belonged to Ernie Banks. Now, it could fetch $20,000 at auction.
🗞️The power of specialization
Though they might lack the resources of so-called ‘big box’ auction houses, niche houses for tennis and golf believe their focus is their strength.
Matt Cashin started out like most collectors and sellers: Navigating the mainstream auction circuit to find gems from his favorite sport.
He’d been a lifelong tennis fan but really dove into memorabilia beginning in 2015, and when the time came to part with some of his pieces, he quickly discovered the market for tennis memorabilia was severely lacking.
Cashin repeatedly found himself face-to-face with the same issue: Lack of exposure.

🏀 Shaq jersey notches $136,793
The earliest-known Shaquille O’Neal jersey to ever sell publicly nabbed $136,793, making it one of the most valuable high school jerseys to ever sell at auction. President Obama’s 1979 Hawaii State Champion jersey ($192,000 in 2020) and LeBron James’ “The Chosen One” Sports Illustrated jersey ($512,000) are among the only to sell for more.
🎸 Jim Morrison bail bond
A cash bail bond from 1969, signed and dated the day Jim Morrison was arrested for lewd behavior, indecent exposure, open profanity and public intoxication, sold for over $75,000. This is an extraordinarily important document in the history of rock and roll considering it was this same arrest which led Morrison, while out on bail in 1970, to flee to France, where he would ultimately die of an overdose the following year.
🍎 Jobs signed page sells for $55,102.77
A Steve Jobs-signed page from a 1990 computer publishing conference sold for more than $55,000 over the weekend, marking yet another shocking result for the wild Steve Jobs memorabilia market, which we covered last month.
