Collectors spent more than $416 million on sports and trading cards online in August to set an industry record for the third consecutive month. The mark beat the previous month’s total by more than $100 million.

Our Will Stern has a bone to pick with collectors lamenting the new money coming into the hobby on the heels of the record-breaking Jordan-Bryant sale.
eBay has authenticated more than 15 million items, including trading cards, watches, handbags and sneakers, CEO Jamie Iannone said in a CNBC interview Wednesday. Iannone also said the program has “never” passed a counterfeit item.
